Scots-born printmaker and famed fashion designer, Jonathan Saunders, partnered with The Rug Company to create a signature
collection. With Saunders’s unmatched melding of clashing colors and distinct use of patterns, his four new rug designs echo his inimitable
style. The designer’s mastery of printmaking is evident in the new Herringbone, Nouveau, Hutton, and Harrington rugs. For the Hutton
runner, Saunders drew inspiration from vintage wallpaper and gave it a modern nudge.
Using age-old weaving techniques, The Rug Company has commissioned some of the globe’s most prodigious designers to create
exclusive collections including: Rodarte, Kelly Wearstler, Diane von Furstenberg, and others. The Rug Company showroom is located on
Hi Line in the Dallas Design District. therugcompany.com –Terri Provencal
A miserable night’s sleep can be just that, miserable—tossing and
turning, irritating your partner, wakefulness leading to neck pain,
and more. In pursuit of the perfect pillow to solve her own sleep
issues, Merrimac Dillon purchased one boasting of luxurious down.
A cradle of comfort it was decidedly not. In the middle of the night
she ended up tearing the pillow apart because it was “stabbing” her
in the head. The very pillow offering the sweet dreams advertised
was actually loaded with feathers with their quills still intact, not the
down promised. Down is the layer of soft feathers found underneath
the tough exterior feathers of the goose.
Convinced consumers deserved better, Dillon turned her
restless night into a successful enterprise with the creation of a
pillow-making machine known as The Pillow Bar. Filled exclusively
with European white down, The Pillow Bar makes customizable
pillows in various sizes and firmness with names like Slumberlicious
and Peaceful Dreams. Dillon tapped Dr. Mary Collings, a nationally
renowned sports chiropractor, to develop the Dr. Mary Side Sleeper.
Shaped like a boomerang, the Side Sleeper can be filled to firm or
soft specifications just for you at The Pillow Bar inside the Linen
Boutique. Each handmade pillow comes with a 300-thread count
cotton-sateen protector, embroidery of choice, and a lavender sachet
noted to promote sweet dreams. “I think of it as Build-A-Bear for
adults,” remarks Dillon. linen-boutique.net –Terri Provencal
