DALLAS THEATER CENTER COLLABORATES
WITH TRINITY REPERTORY COMPANY
When the 2012-13 Dallas Theater Center season opened, half of its resident acting
company was in Providence, Rhode Island, rehearsing King Lear. Artistic Director
Kevin Moriarty’s vision for the company includes these exchanges of talent. “I hope
to bring world-class performers to Dallas and take our talent to the rest of the world,”
Moriarty told Patron one morning on the way to rehearsal. Moriarty directs this collaborative production with Providence’s Trinity Repertory Company. The profound tragedy
by Shakespeare about a king and his daughters is the culmination of DTC’s four-year
commitment to demonstrate the Bard’s continued relevance. King Lear played in September and October on the Trinity Rep stage and opens at the Wyly Theatre Jan. 25.
